At Cowboys Casino, supporting the Calgary community is an important part of who we are. Through charity casino events, volunteer partnerships, and collaborations with local organizations, we help provide fundraising opportunities that support programs and initiatives across the province.
Many local non-profit organizations rely on charity casino events as a major source of funding. These events help raise funds for youth programs, community associations, arts and cultural initiatives, sports organizations, and charitable services that benefit Calgarians every day.
Cowboys Casino is proud to work alongside these organizations and the volunteers who help make these fundraising events possible.

charity casino fundraising
One of the most impactful ways charities raise funds in Alberta is through a Charitable Gaming Casino Licence administered by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis.
Eligible charitable organizations can apply for a charity casino event through AGLC. Once approved and scheduled at a licensed casino facility like Cowboys Casino, the organization provides volunteers to assist with certain operational roles during the event.
Revenue generated by casino events is allocated to licensees to help fund their programs and services. In 2024 - 2025, charitable gaming in Alberta supported more than 23,000 licenses, including casinos, and raised over $422.8 million, with 67.6% of the funds raised by casino events.
The revenue generated by casinos is used in our community to support initiatives ranging from facility improvements to seniors’ activities to children’s sports.
These events typically run over two consecutive days, and charities often raise significant funding that helps sustain their community initiatives.
